Heartache

A poem about heartache.


I want to tell you a story,

a story that happened long, long, ago,

about this girl who was full of heartache and woe,

She tried to cover it up,

in laughter and in song,

she couldn’t tell the difference,

between right and wrong,

Her heartache overwhelmed her at night,

but she hid it in the day,

She saw only darkness,

to her darkness was her only way,

She would cry out inside,

thinking that no one would ever want to hear,

how much she was hurting,

nothing was soothing her fear,

The fear of never finding true love,

She thought, “There is no one out there for me!”

Fortunately,

One day this amazing guy came her way,

it was like he just dropped from out of the sky,

Why?

She wasn’t expecting it,

so she starts to cry.

Thinking this too isn’t the one,

He constantly reassures her that he is,

her heart doesn’t have the desire to run,

he tells her that their love will never, never, ever, fizz.

The longer they would talk,

she would start to believe it,

somehow, she knows that she can’t fool him,

he already knows all about her true nature,

he calls her his rare gem.

So now,

her heart feels no pain,

she cries only happy tears,

she is so happy that starts to shout,

“My soulmate! My soulmate! My soulmate! Is finally here!

Let my soulmate and I shout toward the heavens above,

let all who can hear and see,

that my soulmate and I are infinity in love,

for we are truly meant to be!”
