In The Darkness

A poem about how someone would feel when they get lost after dark.


In the darkness, I can’t see,

What is out there, what will it be,

Is it a ghost, or a snake of some kind,

Is it a monster, way back from an ancient time,

Is it a cat meowing, or an owl hooting in the night,

Is it a dog growling,

Now I am in a terrible fright,

In the darkness I start to worry,

Cause my flashlight isn’t working so well,

Oh, nevermind I am in a hurry,

Ok, I will go in this direction,

I hear the sound of a cathedral church bell.
